intro to kettle dyeing
Kettle dyeing is the process of placing fiber or yarn in a shallow dish, pan or container with very little water to apply color.
This is the perfect workshop for those that knit, crochet, and weave. In this workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to hand-dye (3) hanks of yarn using low-immersion and hand-painting techniques to create semi-solid and color variegation using color modification and extraction from plant materials. Attendees will be able to dye a trio collection of yarn of 100% super wash merino wool at 100g/219 yds (worsted weight). Attendees are welcome to purchase additional hanks and minis the day of workshop!
This workshop will cover:
- low + high water table
- hand-painting, dip-dyeing and low-immersion
- fiber types + preparation
- color modification + exhaust baths
- washing and care instructions for naturally dyed yarn

All workshops, classes, and camps are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your workshop to a friend or family member. In the event of a workshop cancellation due to enrollment, illness, weather, etc., you will receive 72 hours advanced notice and a full refund.
