Meet your textile educator

Philadelphia-based fiber artist Sam Tower (she/her) uses macramé knotting to create earthy decor and wall art, functional and charming home goods, and intentionally designed baby toys. Macramé has led her to rediscover the healing delight she feels when creating art with her hands. She enjoys sharing her fiber art practice with communities of crafters, makers, dyers, fabricators, and plant lovers. Her work often includes vintage ceramic beads and organic materials such as reclaimed wood, foraged driftwood, and other fibers like recycled silk, jute, and yarn. Made with cotton cord, beechwood rings, and colorful ribbons, her baby toys are designed to support the development of motor skills and inspire play in little ones. When creating macramé art, Sam is inspired by the natural world, her Lebanese and Irish culture, antiques, and colorful florals. Sam's small batch and custom-created pieces are knotted by hand in her home studio using consciously-sourced materials that have been recycled or purchased from other small businesses.
