introductory sewing: basic skills & techniques, 4 weeks
Our introductory sewing class highlights basic skills and techniques perfect for beginners or for people who have sewn in the past and need a refresher. In this workshop, attendees will learn skills and techniques each week and will apply them to design a full moon bag with a zip closure and pockets.
This workshop will cover:
- week 1: how to use a heavy duty sewing machine (threading, winding a bobbin, tension, common stitches, and more), sewing terminology, equipment/tools, types of stitches, seam finishes, seam allowance, and applying a zipper
- week 2: how to read and design a pattern, identify grainline, cutting layout, fabric types, and more!
- week 3: how to assemble bag design, sewing with curves, bias binding, interior & exterior fabric, sewing accuracy, and more!
- week 4: project completion and graduation, installing handles, pockets, and more!

No experience required. Great for adults (age 14+) and children (age 7+).
Multi-day, approximately 3 hours per week
Materials + supplies
Attendees are responsible for class materials and supplies. Attendees will receive a materials list 2 weeks prior to class.
Tuition costs includes workshop materials, handouts, and lecture unless otherwise noted.

Refunds + registration policies
All workshops, classes, and camps are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you may transfer your workshop to a friend or family member. Please let us know ahead of time by giving us a call or emailing customer service at firstname.lastname@example.org. In the event of a workshop cancellation due to enrollment, illness, weather, etc., you will receive 72 hours advanced notice and a full refund.
