About the instructor
Raised in Philadelphia, Kalila Jones has been enamored by the arts and culture of their hometown since a young age. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fiber and Material Studies with a concentration in Art Education at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art & Architecture in Philadelphia, PA. During their undergraduate experience, Jones has assisted and led textile-based workshops for adults and children including a five-week fundamentals of crocheting class at The Arts League in West Philadelphia. An active member of Temple University’s Artists of Color Collective (AoCC) since 2020, she has helped curate the collective’s two most recent exhibitions Digital Entanglements (2021) and Borders & Portals (2022). They have additionally collaborated with collective members on two publications and acted as co-president for the organization from 2022-2023. Outside of their work with AoCC Jones has begun a series of up-cycling projects that reuse materials from their first solo exhibition In a World of My Own (2023).
