we are closing-- peaceful solitude.

Hi friends,

It’s bittersweet to share that Modest Transitions will be closing its brick-and-mortar space at the end of April. What began as an idea grew into something truly special because of the people who walked through our doors, shared their time with us, and made this space feel alive and safe.  I am immensely grateful for the support and the sense of community that formed here. Showing up authentically in this space has meant more to me than I can fully express.

Choosing to step away wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. It came from a place of listening—to my body, my needs, and the act of knowing. As I found myself gradually approaching burnout--influenced by both my commitments and the vulnerability of showing up as my true self, with the heaviness of the current climate, I began to recognize that something needed to shift. There were moments of deep fulfillment, but also moments that felt depleting in ways I could no longer tolerate. Over the year, it became clear that I deserved a different pace, a gentler rhythm, and a way of creatively living and working that felt more sustainable and aligned.

The business was a deeply personal extension of myself and my postpartum healing journey. What started as a tranquil greenhouse, a necessary space for my own safekeeping, grew into something I could open and share with others. I invited mothers—and anyone seeking a gentle, therapeutic, and mindful connection to the arts—to come as they were, to rest, to create, and to feel supported without judgement. Modest Transitions became a place where healing could happen in small, meaningful ways, through creativity, community, and togetherness. Holding that space for others has truly been one of my greatest accomplishments.

There is still so much more I would love to share with you all, and I hope this isn’t goodbye, but a new way of staying connected. If you’d like to keep up with my creative practice, offerings, and the work that continues to unfold, I warmly invite you to follow along and join my mailing list. It would truly mean so much to stay connected and continue sharing this next chapter together.

with love,

melanie
